Sourcelight is an evolving artwork about human light; our distinct presence, and the impact that happens when that presence is gathered into a larger whole.
The project unfolds through outdoor installations called Sourcelight Adsum (/ˈæd.sʌm/ or /ˈæd.səm/), which means “I Am Here”. The Installations are constructed in intentional places and serve as co-authors in the work. These installations are not staged as public events. They occur as a field of gathered light: a composition of light and presence, formed through representation.
At the center of the work is the Lumen, a limited sculptural object that serves as a stand-in for a person. Each Lumen is placed inside the installations as a representative of individual presence: a record of “I am here,” (Adsum) held within the larger work.
Sourcelight expands over time through installations, objects, and an evolving archive of human stories. We all arrive with something to bring into the world. Creation is not reserved for a few, and it is not something we observe from the outside. It happens through us. To claim one’s light is to accept responsibility for it, not as a belief, but as a condition of being present. What we bring forward, or choose not to, shapes what can exist next.
Sourcelight stands as an act of claiming that light, witnessing it, and standing as co-creators within the larger work of creation.
